How the AP® Business with Personal Finance composite is calculated
Each section is converted to a percentage and weighted using the College Board's published exam weights:
| Section | Format | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Multiple choice | 60 questions, 70 min | 60% |
| FRQ 1: Business Canvas validation | 1 question, 25 min | 15% |
| FRQ 2: Personal finance | Part B, 65 min total | 8.3% |
| FRQ 3: Business concept application | Part B | 8.3% |
| FRQ 4: Business decision | Part B | 8.3% |
The College Board gives Part B (questions 2–4) 25% of the score in total but doesn't split it per question, so this calculator weights them equally at about 8.3% each.
The weighted composite (0–100) is compared with estimated score cutoffs:
| AP® score | Estimated composite |
|---|---|
| 5 | 70 and above |
| 4 | 57–69 |
| 3 | 43–56 |
| 2 | 30–42 |
| 1 | Below 30 |
This exam is brand new, so no score distributions or cutoffs exist yet. These are first-year estimates based on typical AP® exams; we'll update them as soon as the College Board releases 2027 results. If you're within 3 points of a boundary, the calculator shows both possible scores.
